engine question

does the 92-94 3rd gen have the same VE engine as the 4th gen. Just curious.

The 4th gen. has the VQ engine. Nissan stopped making the VE engine in 94.

VG 160HP (89-94GXE, 89-91SE)
VE 190HP (92-94 SE)
VQ 190HP, but more torque and no variable timing like VE (4th gen)

and i assume you checked the FAQs right?

VG - 160
VE - 190

and no..it's not worth doing an engine swap unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
