Key Pads on the Door
Key Pads on the Door
Has anyone had the keypads on the door quit working? They don't light up or make a sound or anything when you touch them. I've checked all the fuses under the dash so I know that's not it. The power locks still work, sort of. What is going on???? Thanks....
ok, well Im assuming he is refering to the positive 12 volt power line, which would probly cause these symptoms, and if it is broken it is probly at the place where the wire passes from the car to the door, right by the hinge, so that would be a good place to start looking.
Hmm yes. +12V (=VDC) ...sorry.
Open the keypanel and check that you have the +12 voltage present to the keypad, and of course also grounding.
How about your door low corner light?
One good tool for troubleshooting is the tester which has (three) leds and needle ***** 'thing'. You can test voltage level on any cable through the insulation and no need to disconnect anything. 5$, worth every $.

Well without belaboring the point, how do you Open the keypanel?? Pry it open with a screwdriver. Open the door from the inside? I t seems easier to just check that bundle of wires going from the door to the car but I'm no expert. Can you help me any more?

There's practically the terriblese Chilton manual online, incl door pics...
- Handle off: screw in both ends. Lock pad 'well' plastic to be pried off up, there's two screw to be seen. Now pry the keypad off from one end.
I would also open the whole panel to see how the wires are, to grease win mechanism.
