The relocation of rear plate

When I walk around the rear of the max. I notice that the rear plate hangs down below the rear bumper. Maybe a good sunday morning project is to move the plate up some.

Just bend the lower portion of the plate so it matches the contour of the bumper and secure that bent bottom portion to the bumper with screws. That's what I did and it looks a lot better. Very simple solution actually. Technically it's illegal, but most cops just think you backed into something and bent the plate back. I've run like this for over 2 years and had no problems.

that woudn't work here, because the month and year of the expiration are on the bottom. If a cop can't see that, he will pull you over thinking you are trying to hide expired tags.

Place the plate inside the car facing out from the Rear window? that way cops can still the the plate and it will not be in the bumper.

I would have to raise the plate in the bummper location. My tint is way to dark. Maybe I will have a better under car drag efficency as well.

In Colorado you are required to have a plate in the front( photo radar vans need to take your pic). You really don't need a kit to take the bracket off. You just need a screwdriver and 5 min of time. I put my plate in the windshield. I thought that it would help reflect the fuuz and there use of radar but that was proven wrong the other day when i recieved a speeding ticket.

the part that you screw the plates on to has room to drill new holes higher up. This will move the plate higher up into the bumper so it wont hang down as far. On my car it has mark for two places to drill holes and they were drilled on the lower marks so mine also hangs low.

Sorry, didn't realize your state had all the important stuff on the bottom.

Ya, I put screws in the bumper? In the bottom, underside of the bumper - where they can't be seen - at all. So no biggy.

My front plate no longer hangs off the front bumper either. I made a bracket and mounted under the bumper. Required removing a section of that plastic guard that sits in the lowest front bumper opening - I think it just directs air and protects agains large debris hitting the rad. Personally I think it looks better than the stock location, and it seems to satisfy the cops (so far anyway?).

Read a little farther down -- you have to get permission from the state patrol first. Probably at the state inspection.

Read into this stuff all you want, but just think about what you are doing a little bit. If you try to make your license plate more difficult to read, you are still going to get pulled over and you are probably still going to get a ticket. Maybe you get out of it, maybe you don't, but is it really worth all of the hassle? It's just like tinting your windows too dark or putting a dark colored cover over your license plates. Maybe you get a ticket, maybe you don't, but every time you are driving at midnight on a Friday or Saturday night, the cops are going to blue light you.

Do what you want, but don't complain when you get pulled over by cops that can't see your license plate.
