Side Trim

The side trim on my pebble beige 91 maxima has gotten kind of faded. I know this is a factory issue, so where should I go to fix this? Also, does anyone know where I could get the trim, so I can do this myself?

1. Take it off. These cars look good without the trim imo.

2. Buy some pant from paintscratch.com and mask off and paint it yourself (it will not be perfect but much better than whats there). Be sure to mask off the area before you do any sanding also. You dont want to sand on the paint around it on the doors.

3. See if you can buy the trim new and already painted from the dealer.

4. Live with it lol.

If you want to keep it on I would recomend number 2. Dont take it off to paint it though. Just mask it off very carefully. If you take it off you will need to get all the sticky tape left on there and then buy new tape. Not worth all that time imo.

Good luck.

Wait, they look good without it? Wouldn't there be a visible depression where it was taken off or something? Do you have pictures of this perhaps?

I am going to call the dealer tomorrow to ask them if I could get it done.

Otherwise, the paint seems like a good idea...I need to get some anyway.

Hmm, doesn't look bad at all. How is the paint underneath? I mean, did you have to repaint it?

actually a better one to look at would probably be Chris' (off the top of my head) James' is done I know for sure but his car is black so it doesnt show as well in pics.

link to a pic of Chris'

A lot of people like them off and a lot like them on. Its really a personal choice.

not if you take them off right and are careful with removing the sticky tape (not an easy thing to do).

James swears by sticker shock or something like that. I have used it and it works pretty good. I have also used the rubber eraser wheel but if you are not careful with that you can burn throught the paint.

3M's spray adhesive remover works wonders too....No scrubbing needed at all.

Indeed, Sticker Shock works really well if you use it properly. You cant spray it on there and expect it to melt off, but rather you have to spray it on there, let it soak, then it will scrape off pretty darn easy with a fingernail. It also works good if when you scrape it you keep spraying some more Sticker Shock on it to kind of keep it soaked

Of course, this way is kinda tedius and your fingernail(s) hurts afterwards though but it works really well

So, where can I get sticker shock or equivalent? Just the local hardware shop?
