some "early" pics of my new SE 5spd

well new to me anyway

You may remember the thread where I posted that Craig and I went and got the car from a friend in FL and did the motor swap, VTC rebuild, knock sensor replacement etc. etc.

I swapped my Intrax over, installed my CAI, installed my leather seats and installed my UK corners and "AE" like lights. I am not going to do the BMW swap until I get some projectors. Besides I like the "AE" like look with the UK corners since I am currently the only one with this look.

I am waiting on the sandblaster to get my wheels back to me (my Radius/Moda R6s) so I can paint them and put them on the car. I am also going to install my kit and paint it and the bumpers in the next couple of weeks. I have the side moldings and pin stripe off of the other side (but not all the glue because of lack of time) and will finish that side up and do the same on this side in the coming weeks.

I just went out today and took some pics since I dont really have any except the ones I have when I got it and it was connected to my Jeep. I didnt feel like washing it so it was dirty but figured I would post them anyway.

Oh yeah and I will be doing the ACC conversion and putting my carpet (it has tan carpet right now) in soon as well. I say soon...it will probably be a couple of months because I have to finish the blue car and paint Craigs "non Maxima" car first.

on to the pics

I have the internal corners (non reflective area) painted black like AE maxima. I did this a while back on my 92GXE and thought it looked good with the UK corners.

what body work? I am keeping my doors from the 93 and that is the only major pain in the butt body work I did. I could shave the antenna in about an hour (thats welding it up and doing the body work and primer...ready to paint)...same goes for the window squirters (although I am keeping that hood too so I would not have to do that either lol). The gas filler is a little more difficult because you have to be really careful not to warp the quarter. I am not doing the filler on this car though since it will probably be a daily driver (If I get this new job it will be since I will not have my company vehicle).

I think people thought I did more to my car than I really did. The major stuff was replacing the quarter (the second time especially) which I hope to never do on this car (because it would mean I was in a wreck). The rest of it was small stuff except for the doors. The doors would have been easier had I just shaved them completely instead of the method I chose but again I am keeping them so all that isnt wasted.

I got those new fog lenses when I first got the other car. You would think after 2 years they would show some wear but I guess if they only have about a month of actual use then they will not show any lol.

Brian I dont think the drop looks THAT bad with the stock wheels. granted it doesnt look as good as with my 17s bit it is ok and doesnt really look that far out of place imo. Hopefully I will have the wheels back soon though. I am really looking forward to having them on. I didnt want to wait until I had my wheels to drop it though. I like how it looks lowered with factory wheels better than it looks with 17s and not lowered thats for sure.

Klown...you know I want to be just like you and Craig. I just wish I could keep my stripe on but there is a little gnome or something that keeps coming out at night and taking a little off at a time so I guess I just have to finish the job.

the tinted headlights look good, id have it done on mine but i have projectors waiting to go in once some mechanical stuff is fixed first

you should also clear out the bumper lenses, my front end looks good with everything all crystal clear, especially with the projector e36 it should look good together

are those 205/65 tires? they look fat like my stock set did

taking the lights apart is not too hard. Just need some welding gloves and an oven...or just use towels if you dont have gloves. You have projectors though so you dont need to do it. Unless you are going to sell me the projectors cheap .

Have you found another car? I see you have yours up for sale.

I honestly do not know lol. I never really looked. I assume they are factory size 205/65s though.

I thought about doing the bumper lenses but am not sure. If I can find my old ones to test and see how I will like it I may do it but those are practically brand new and I really dont want to mess with them until I am totally sure that is what I want to do.

Oh and I never told you but my parts car didnt have the door lock timer (that is what you wanted right?). I looked because I had to resolder the one on this car and figured I would do that one as well while I was at it. Its not there though...guess someone got it when it was at the junk yard.

Glad to know that finally the org is admitting the look of the black 3rd gen. I have said it all along. Black is absolutely knockout on this car, especially as it is not the "universal black" as on the 4th gen-onwards maximas. It is a very unique shade of black. I didn't realize that until a bodyshop owner pointed it out to me. With tinted windows, the car looks absolutely amazing. A coat of Megs Show Car Glaze and one of Megs NXT Tech Wax and the paint looks like you could step right into it. I have had people tell me in parking lots from NC to CO that it is an incredibly nice looking car, though most didn't even know what car it was!

Now I need some nice 18" wheels and e36 lights to complete the look.
