Here's a quick list of the project:
1) Completely replaced interior from donor '93 - Fitted custom wheel
2) Extensive mechanical & engine work - Nothing super custom just getting it right. VTC's, engine mounts (all 4), EGR, MAF, FI wiring, cooling, transmission & clutch, master & clutch master, fuel pump & filter, crank seal, CV boots, rack boots, ball joints, struts, rear suspension rubber & links, gas tank filler, and on and on. WAY too many things to list.
3) New hood, front fenders
4) New windshield, rear glass & drivers glass
5) New wheels and tires
6) Stripped and sanded to bare metal - started with epoxy primer to replace the E Coat, then primed, multiple coats of a base of Viper GTS Blue, color sanded twice(through the process), 5 coats of clear, sanded and buffed (needless to say, the paint on this thing is pretty damn nice - WAY better then factory!).
7) Many many many more things done to this car. Only listed a few here. Have over 400 pictures of the entire process from start to finish.

New Ecoat?...how is that possible? Or are you talking about epoxy primer? I am confused here but thats not hard to do to me .
Super job and it looks great...I am sure she will love it. I see she did some work on it too so maybe she will appreciate all the time involved and really take care of it.
Congrats on a job completed and well done.

Excellent work. I am extremely impressed with the short amount of time it took you to do all of that.
I think that the car is a fine gift and represents custom, non-riced out 3rd gens very nicely. It is clean and neat and no BS.

Now that the job is done is there anything you would have done differently? A new black interior would have look better with the blue exterior, besides it's a lot more user frinedly compared to the tan. Good work

Thanks for all the compliments - She is very happy with it.
As far as the clear tails and such, she wants to do a few things to it and I didn't want to take away from her "ownership" if you know what I mean. She'll do something nicer for exhaust (although nothing rice is allowed ) and she wants to do tails, stereo front fogs (notice they're not there?) etc.
awsm66 - I corrected it. I was just typing along trying to get some info in there - That post doesn't list 10% of the total and is not in order. I changed it to read "replaced ecoat ..."
Yourself
Actually, the truth is even funnier - The roof stuck in the up (as opposed to the full open) position. It wouldn't go back down. So what does the guy do? He forces it (hard) by pushing on the rear end of the glass. This ended up breaking the aluminum hinge pieces . Instead of fixing it, it just duct taped it!

Question
I do have a question for many people here who have said that black would have looked better:
I picked the tan for 2 reasons:
1) The only "black" interior I've seen in a 3rd gen is not really black - It's gray seats with black trim. I refuse to do a gray interior in a blue car - Just a personal preference
2) Because of #1, and because I like tan & blue.
Now, given #1, is there such a thing as a truly *black* interior? Not just black trim, but black upholstery as well? If so, the *next* 3rd gen I do (hint hint - I have another daughter) may have a black interior.

great job!
They do have fully black interiors (check out my cardomain - http://maxima.cardomain.com/id/craigbrace). I'm not sure if they have black cloth and not just dark grey like you mentioned, but they do have black leather.
I do like the tan and blue combo, it's similar to my old prelude that awsm66 will be painting
edit: not many good interior pics on my cardomain - check out www.geocities.com/craigbrace for the seat removal pages and you can see my seats there

I agree with AVI the tan looks good in blue cars. The only thing I dont like is the brown pieces. If it had a black dash and door panels (or tan) I would like it a whole lot more but the tan goes very well with blue. Thats all personal opinions anyway and to each his own I always say.
I also understand what you mean about the grey seats. Even in the leather they look more dark grey than black...that may be because of age or design.
I however have true black seats. They are aftermarket leather (katzkin) but they are true black and not a dark grey. Look in my post about the AE **** and e-brake handle to see my seats or check my cardomain site for my 93.
Over all the car looks great and even though I dont like the brown part of most interiors (I hated it on my old GXE so I took it out) it does go very well with blue.
My 93 will be blue with black door panels and dash but tan seats and maybe carpet unless I decide to just buy new carpet for the 92 instead of swapping it.
BTW AVI I dont think you are too far from me (couple hours or so). I recognize the name and think I used to have some customers in Alabaster when I lived in Birmingham. I still go to Birmingham every now and then to visit with the inlaws.

Avi,
You are insane. I just hope that by the time my daughter grows up, I will have learned enough to be a good dad like you(she is 10 months old, I have about 15 years to learn, and I am trying...).
As for the color, I really like it. I guess it wouldn't make sense to get new leather interior for a teenager, but as for the colors, I think the tan leather makes the blue even brighter.
I have a black cloth interior, but you are right, the seats are NOT grey, but in sunlight, they still do not look truly black. I got some used black leather manual seats (mine are cloth power), and swapped the upholstry.
Although I don't think the brown pieces don't look that bad, I guess one thing that can be done is to replace the brown dash pieces with black ones, or all black interior with tan seats, door panel inserts, and roof? It'll be like them 90's euroupean look. Anyway, just some suggestions for your next project.
By the way, how many kids do you have? There is Brenna, and her little brother and you said you have another daughter... It just seems like a project like the one you did would take about 2 years off my life, heh heh...
Ah the love a parent...
Never understood it until I became on...
Happy New Year guys, and I hope the new year has good things for you guys and your maximas.
