Concerned about my transmission...

Alright, well I noticed today that when I first had my car started up and everything I was driving down the street and my car seemed to have shifted hard which seemed normal because it's always done that. So about after a hour of driving I came to neighborhood speeds, and I noticed that my tranny was shifting really really smooth. I didn't feel anything slip, but I was wondering if it was normal. Thanks.

When you first start do you give your tranny ample time to warm up?
