Brake Fluid..

Hey guys (and girls)...Recently I had to put more brake fluid into my car, which I understand that you shouldn't have to fill up your brake fluid at all! My e-brake light was luminated for days, and I couldn't figure out why until someone mentioned to check the brake fluid..(keep in mind that I'm only a 19 yr old female with absolutely no mechanincal knowledge)

I did not and still do not notice any puddles of anything under my car whatsoever, so why did I have to re-fill it? Is it possible that there is a leak somewhere that I can not see? If so, does anyone have ideas on where I should look?

Thanks for your help!!

If there aren't any big puddles after a day or so and it still feels ok, you should be fine to drive it for now.
But keep an eye on it and see if it goes down again. If it does, you need to really inspect everything from the master cylinder all the way to the calipers and all the lines in between.
If the master cylinder is starting to go bad, it's common for it to leak between the cylinder and the brake booster (big cylinder thing right behind the master cylinder), so look at the bottom part of where they meet.

It's actually been about a month (or more) since I had topped it off and I still haven't seen any puddles...but thanks for the ideas on where to check - I'll have to have my boyfriend take alook there soon! Thanks again!

check your fluid level now, if it hasn't dropped don't worry.
if it has dropped then check your caliper seals as well, on a rare occasion they'll seep rather than leak.
