280k

I am tempted to buy it, then I will have a VG Twin...
But i am sure I would want to replace the engine soon with a VGET, but gots to get the SCVE working first...

My dad has IIRC 236+K, but thats only because his odometer froze at 216K for a couple months before it fixed itself.

ha, mine had the same problem. i bought with only 145k and it stopped at 210k and then it fixed itself but i think it has about 250k and it still runs strong and blew 3 auto trannies and then converted to a 5-speed.

BTW: timing belt still hasn't been changed since i bought the car back in '99.

what do you think makes these engines run for so long? why is it that a nissan can get 300k or more while a for or chevy is lucky if it can get 120k?

I have always wondered why they last so long. and btw I have 213k and it needs a timing belt but other than that the engine runs great!

it's not hard to manually change it to be correct. you run the risk of breaking it but you can just turn them really hard until they click over to the next number. start at the highest number you need to change and work your way down. You will think you're going to break it but i changed a 170 JY to 146 original miles np so it should be fine for you.

I remember that from a few years back. Crazy stuff.

There is a guy on my route that had a Pathfinder (89-ish) with a VG. I saw it and looked at the odometer last summer and had 375k on it. He sold it for $1500, too. He bought a 98 Pathfinder (used) to replace it.

But my max has 192k on the chassis, and 222K on the tranny. Runs great, I just did the timing belt/water pump and tensioner.

But hes still running strong. Man these engines are TANKS! haha

QUESTION :

I'm looking to buy a 3rd Gen Maxima soon and was wondering two things :

1. Are the parts much more expensive than those on/in american cars?

2. Is it true that your insurance goes up according to what mod's you make on it?

Sorry to interrupt the mileage thread but I'm a newbie and can't post my on thread.
