cold air intake question

Does a CAI make a noticable difference in performance? or is it just all hype and no show?

You'll get a nice gain in intake honk. Whether you can feel the extra HP that shows on the dyno is up to how sensative your butt is.

i think reygarcia has his forsale that will fit your car. He bought a 5th gen so he is selling his car.

i'd like to think i felt a difference, but i dont think i did. i think what i felt is a better sense of performance, since the filter isn't crowded in the engine bay with all that heat and what-not... but i lose that piece of mind when it's raining out.... i think what i would like to do, ultimately, is keep it in the engine bay, relocate the battery and almost totally seal it against the fenderwell and hood using either a universal small hood scoop or a 280zx hood scoop over the filter area with an easily-placed block off plate so no water can be forced into the intake filter..... i say that, but i doubt i'll ever do it. haha

I notice a quicker throttle response, but that's about it. As for driving down the road and getting a faster feel... no not really, but I do get one bad *** sound out of it

Its not hype: cold air is denser and contains more oxygen which means better burn which means power boost. Come to the North, GET real cool WINTER PWR!

However, all stock 3gen nissan Maximas have "CAI"... Dyno tests show real benefits, but moving vehicle above town speeds: no difference [note: on the air temp effect].

See how the definite boost can be done to stock engine, free: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/748507/2

The aftermarket things are good as u have better intake alltogether, stock is veeery restricted.

They make underdrive pulleys for our car, just about any car. Cost, I think it ran around $300-$400, but I'm not quite sure. Modifications... I believe only having to get different length of belts. Gains, a few HP, I believe they try to claim 18 hp from the swap.

Problems... I know of one person that kept having problems with his. For some reason his alternator wasn't putting out the right voltage and amps. And it also turned on his check engine light after a few minutes of running. I left for the desert before he took it in to see what the codes were.

But I that's the only case I've heard having problems with underdrives.

its the mid pipe, made it more responsive and more powerful on antonthegreys car. On my VE i noticed the most differences with just the mid-pipe.

but since rey has his forsale, buy his, its the full deal plus he has to pay for the new car somehow .

Remember this one thing... ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE WITH ENOUGH MONEY!!!!

I just don't have that much Otherwise I'd have a 3.5L 6 speed in my car right now.

Thanks, but it's been some work. And I still have a lot more to go. I won't even bother with the list. And lets just say, a hail storm didn't help me any on the project. That and the previous owner tore it the car up.

So far to date, on just replacing or upgrades (normal maintaining not included) I've spent around $3000. Man little $hit adds up, quickly I might add too. And I'm not even 1/4 of the way done. Oh well... I wanted a challenge.

well my last max i had spent around that much on it, just keeping it running, something always happened to it, then i hit a yukon denali, lol had to get a new max!, good thing is this one has to be in the best condition ever, just has a stock transmition and clutch, so needless to say i gotta replace the clutch soon, you can tell it has 187,000 miles on it

I bought mine with only 80,000 miles on it. Just about to 100,000 now. Already replaced the clutch, as well as the axles. Rear main was beginning to dry rot, so got that done as well. And found out something interesting. When the shop dropped the tranny, and cleaned it. They found markings on it showing it came from a junkyard. Oh great. So now I wonder exactly how bad the previous tore the car up.
