lower idle

lower idle

ok so i posted a few days ago about my cold start problems and i was aksed what my idle at startup was well what i said and what it is now was wrong....my car on start up idles anywhere from 500-800....not 1500 like i thought....

I'm not sure what your previous post was exactly about besides the little detail you had given above, but just in comparison to how my car normally idles I think that 500-800 is a little low but relatively normal. On a normal day, my car idles at like 900rpms in park.
500 seems extremely low for it to idle when in park, because when you drop it into gear, its only going to idle lower than that which just doesnt sound good to me! My car idles at like 500-600 when in gear...(which I thought at times might be a little low).
My very uneducated advice would be to get your engine tuned, or at least have a professional look at it...
Anyone else have insight..I'd be interested to know what is "normal" and what is not a "normal" idle.

it doesn't sound like you have much of a problem but if you want to adjust your idle to be a little higher there's an idle adjustment screw on the ecu.
