winshield wipers dead!

hey guys... well my first experience with snow wasnt too pleasant... it snowed a lot over night, and my car ended up buried... but that wasnt the problem... i guess it's my own stupidity that caused the problem, but instead of clearing the snow off my windshield, i just decided to turn on the wipers... which i later realized wasnt a good idea... so anyways, at first i thought that my motor was dead, but when i turned the wipers on and off, i could hear it buzzing, so then i took out the trusty maxima manual, and took apart the windshield wiper assembly, finding that the bar that connects the motor to the middle wiper fell off... i put it back on, after 3 hours of struggle, and tried it... seemed to work witout the wipers put on, but when i put everything back together again... it fell off... so my question is how do i fix it... i guess i need to tighten the part that connects to the motor bearing... or do i just need to get a new bar... please help, since i think its gonna rain soon, and i cant drive around wit my wipers not working!

I think it's just a plastic bushing that you need

i had this issue a few years back. IIRC they don't sell just the bushing but you have to buy a new wiper linkage. i think they're ~$20 or so at the dealership

I think their even cheaper than that like $13 bucks, plus they should have it at the dealership cause it is kinda common. Happened to me too. for a temp fix you can use rain X for a couple days Works great. I went all winter but thats probably not recommended.

Congrats. I agree that thing IS a pain to change. Smaller hands would help, but there's just no room around there!

It probably popped off mostly because the plastic bushing was worn, but yeah after that incident I decided I wouldn't try to use the wipers to push off large amounts of snow anymore (mine broke in the rain though). Snow is fine, just don't push it.
