whos dash lights went out after the stereo got stolen? I forget, I was wondering if you ever got them to work yet...I had a problem the other day while I was driving at night doing 55mph on a country highway and all my dash lights stopped working...and the wierd thing is..I pulled over and noticed....my front corner lights stopped working, ALL of my tailights stopped working, and my dash lights stopped working. It turned out my tail lamp fuse was blown, dont know how, but I replaced and everything works fine again.
Maybe when your stereo was ripped out, wires touched and caused a fuse to blow...I thought the car lamp fuse was for the dash lights...I got lucky and picked the tail lamp because my lights were out, and sure enough all those things link to the tail lamp fuse

yes, that's so people don't drive around without tail lights.. if the tails blow, your dash lights go out too. easy way for people to tell.

it's also the same circuit as the illumination wire on your stereo- which most likely is dangling loose near a piece of metal somewhere in your dash. I believe it's red/yellow, but don't remember for certain.
