black smoke
Engine is running to rich or flooding....have autozone pull the codes out of the ECM and go from there. OR, if you are a DIY`er...check fuel pressure and make sure you have 36lbs at idle. If not, injectors O-rings may be leaking............Damn Injectors
are you the same guy who drove his max to 130 mph (tops off at 125mph) and then it stated ideling funy? If you are you also stated that your oil was coffee colored brown (light brown).
Now, is your head gasket blown???
if your not im sorry.

Ok I didnt want to do a repost.
I notice my car only has black smoke under heavy acceleration. Or if I am not moving and and hit the RPMS to 3500 black smoke will come out. Am I having the same problems as everyone else since mines only happens on had accelaration?
thanks,

You might be burning oil..
i think you might be right. i just went out side and hit the gas while i had a coworker watch and it defintely wasnt your typical black smoke. So I'll try again later on tonight once it gets darker.
If the car is only puffing out blueish smoke at cold start up, then you are probably looking at worn valve stem seals. If it does it even when warmed up, then you are looking at worn/cracked piston rings, both are very labor intensive/expensive to have have repaired.
first you start with the smoke from burning oil (fairly common FWD VQ35DE malady) then they destroy the converters which then get sucked into the engine and destroy the engine. I have no clue how they get sucked in but there are several documented cases of it happening
yeah, when you stated your gas mileage numbers, i really didn't think it was fuel related.

Mine is blowing white at cold start, but doesn't do it all the time while driving. Do I have worn value stem seals?
Are you sure it's not just normal condensation smoke?(Common occurrence in colder months) If white smoke continues after initial warm up, you have an internal coolant leak, i.e., cracked head/blown head gasket.
so I know the answer but just want to make sure for my sanity. If I have 75k on it and i want it to go to 150k. Do I need to get this fixed?

But do I want to keep doing this for the next 75k/however many years is the question you have to ask yourself.......
great point. do you know how/want to fix this for me. lol I can meet you in Blacksburg, va.
lol!...

yeah i could fix it, no I'm not traveling to do it.

IMHO, you would probably get off cheaper/faster by replacing the engine with a known good used engine. that can be done in a days time, rebuilding your current engine would take much longer..
and then if you want to FULLY rebuild the other engine at your convenience and pace, you can, then put it back in when it's ready. that's what we're doing on my friend's car (not a maxima) b/c his engine is on its way out... but we're rebuilding it and putting it back in sometime down the road, maybe late summer. in the meantime we're putting in a JY engine.
