I have 93 GXE and yesterday I went on the Highway to go home from work (it waz cold outside) and my tranny wouldnt shift out of 3rd so I waz stuck in 3rd gear on the highway going 70 at about 4500 rpms. This has happened before seems like only when its cold it does this. Any suggestions

 

Your tranny doesn't shift into 4th until its warmed up enough,
i live in the tropics so it only takes about 5mins till i can shift into 4th,
i presume in colder weather it would take longer.

 

Mine did that once or twice. In my case, it was also like it started in 2nd or 3rd insted of 1st. I shut it off for a few minutes and it was fine.

yeah happen all year round for my VG, if i didnt let it warm on a cold start-up for at least 5-8 min. (during summer) the tranny would be stuck in winter mode, and would only have 3rd gear. once warm, the tranny would shift fine.

 

Dont do 70 on 3rd gear , with a cold trany.

Hmm mines doing the same. Tho I'm doing a 5speed swap so no matter hehehe.

It gets great tourqe and accel doing 70 and 4500rpm tho ^_^ BUHAHAHA.
