I bought my 89 Maxima in 98 and was told it was an SE. When I have had work done on it, they list it as SE too.

When I told someone I had Keyless Entry though they said that was only avaialble on the GXE in that year. Now I am confused. Is there anyway to tell whether it is a GXE or SE.

The manual doesn't even seem to say.

if you have the touchpad on the doors, there is a 99% chance its a GXE

 

check your side mirrors are they black or do they match the color of the car?

 

if it has the keypad on the doorhandle, painted side view mirrors to match color of car, black gauge faces then it should be a GXE. if it has no keypad but does have black side view mirrors, and white gauge faces then its an SE.

Does it even matter? The guy has '89 3rd Gen. As far as engine, they are both VG's. Only thing I can think different is the suspension coil (but then after 15 years, I am wondering if the coil is even okay) and spoiler???

(that is, besides the chrome grill, body-color painted mirrors and rocker panels of the GXE).
