Siphon Fuel Tank

How do you siphon the fuel tank? The hose will not make it to the fuel for some reason. It goes about 2 feet in and thats it. Is there a anti-fuel theft device installed or something like that. I tried removing the fuel line from the filter on the firewall and turn the ignition on... it pumps for about 20 seconds then shuts off. Its full and I need it empty.
Thanks for your help.

Remove lower back seat. Note metal cover with screws. Remove screws/cover. Remove fuel pump. Suction to your heart's delight.

lemme guess, you filled it with deisel?

pull the cover off the back seat and figure out which are the two wires going to power and ground ont he fuel pump (the rest are for the level gauge). disconnect the return hose at the firewall and hook the two wires on the pump up to +12V...

that's how I drained it last time when a customer filled it w/ deiesel

I like that idea...And no I didnt fill it with deisel. The is a extra car that we have. So we don't drive it. I live in Florida. Last year during the hurricanes I filled it up for fuel storage for my power generator figuring I would just siphon as I needed it. Well as I just learned, thats not such a great idea. Oh well I have a extra 68 C-10 sitting around but it runs on 97. Guess that generator will have some good power if needed.
Thanks
