Brake and Battery light combo..

I got timing belt and water pump changed yesterday an about an hour after leaving the shop I noticed the brake light and battery light on the dash would come on when I punched on the gas pedal. It only happens for a second or so and then goes away. I also notice it only happens when I hit the gas hard. Any takes on what might cause this?
Thanks

change the belt, the pulley itself probably is not loose.

check the wiring and make sure nothing's loose ont he alternator.

I had that problem several months ago. turned out to be a cut in the wire from some shoddy body repair work when a previous owner had it. the wires were pinched against the core support and cut, but they just taped them back together and put the car back together. I had the car for over 3 years before it started doing anything.. strange..

anyway, check your wiring. they may have disconnected something on the alternator or battery while they were working on the car.

You had the same problem brake and battery light.

Mine did the same thing when the alternator went bad. For some reason the battery light AND the brake light come on. That confused me too.

yes, both lights are on the same circuit. exactly why, I can't explain.. but that's the way it is. I looked it up in the service manual. They're only separated by a diode so that when you have brake problems, only your brake light comes on. when you have battery problems, both lights come on. stupid, yes. but that's the way it is.

it states in the owner's manual that brake and battery lights together mean alternator is not working properly. No idea why Nissan chose that combo.
