93-94 SE Skidpad Numbers?

93-94 SE Skidpad Numbers?

I was just wondering what the skidpad numbers for the 93 or 94 SE are. I'm looking for the 60-0mph braking distance as well. I tried google'ing it but I couldn't find anything useful. Thanks in advance.

check car and driver, motortrend, etc archives.. I've seen some of those numbers out there..

factory skidpad numbers are roughly 0.82G lateral.
in my car, I'm 0.9 on street tires and 1.2 on a track surface with slicks on.

Numbers I've seen from some magazines and clippings I own range from 0.76 to 0.80 G if I remember right.... I recall the numbers weren't stunningly good, but decent at the time. Depends what tires they tested the car with too, as (US) SE 5spd models had a choice between all-season or summer V-rated tires.

I didn't know our maximas had a turning radius small enough to stay on the skidpad.

Car and Driver, Aug 92 -- .78 Story lists Yokohama A344, 205/65/VR15.

Car and Driver, Nov. 91 -- .78 No mention of tires.

Motor Trend, Oct. 1991 -- .82 Story states the car has 205/65/VR15. Bridgestone Potenzas.

All cars tested were new 1992 SE 5-speeds. Car and Driver tests were different tests on different cars, but had the same results.

0.78g for the SE 5spd - Motor Trend, 1994.

Matt, your car should be featured on those British car shows. "Top Gear" I think it's called. You know the ones where the guy with the accent test drives the sports cars and talks about them while driving. Usually it's true sports cars, or supercars that are featured but a modded 3rd gen max should be an exception.

Meh.. the instructors I've had drive it at the track aren't too fond of it. it's darty and wanders on the track, and understeers horribly at the limit. I've still got a lot of suspension tuning issues I'm trying to work out, then I'll clean up the body and start calling some friends I know that work for magazines.

Hehe, nothing sexier than a 1.2g 3rd gen. However I'm still wondering if anyone knows the 60-0 braking time...

I can get you the "braking distance" later today if you want. But I don't know about the "braking time".

There are still more things you can do with the suspension? I thought you hit the limit. And what are you planning to do with the body. Looks beautiful the way it is.

I would think that reading is for the 4th gen., even though it is similar to the 3rd gen numbers. The 3rd gen was unchanged from late 91 (92 model year) until late 94 (when the 95 model year came out). Most magazines don't test cars that are on the way out, especially ones that have been entirely unchanged in three model years.

I don't know about that but, it clearly states that it's a 94'SE 5spd. maybe they copied and pasted from the earlier models. let me go check just to be sure.... Ok, got it.. It's not the car and driver mag but a road and track. too lazy to go seek out the C/D who cares. anyway Im currently looking at a "Road & Track" October 1994(Volume 46, #2). In the back where it has the "Road Test Summary" of the mag it says here.. Nissan Maxima SE (Issue 6-94, Base Price*$24,000, Price as Tested* $28,530, Engine Type V-6, Horsepower 190, 0-60 7.4 sec, 1/4 mile 15.7 sec, Top Speed* 130mph, 60-0 138ft, 80-0 252ft... wow hold on, skidpad says 0.83g but I do have a C/D that stats a 94'SE doing 0.78g Not a 4th gen. Im sure of it. Anyway, slalom mph is 61.0, and MPG is 24.. This mag was worth $2.95 in the US back then. Those days were nice.
