Few days ago I posted about the possibility of swapping my auto GXE powertain into a 5spd SE, well it turns out he didnt know enough about it, and its a GXE with an auto. For those that didnt read the post, my car runs great but got totalled 2 weeks ago by a drunk, and his car has a shot tranny but a beautiful body... Is it pretty plausable for me to be considering a tranny swap from mine to his? I also think it would be pretty nice to have 2 of the same engines around, in case something goes on me... Any ideas/thoughts, and recommendations on where to find someone who could do the work for me (my mechanic estimated 300$ -- pretty trustworthy guy), I'd appreciate it.

95% sure that the swap is straightforward.
I don't think the VG changed trannys between 89 and 94
I think only the VE got the newer tranny
