better do it now while you have it apart. replace everything you can and you won't have to worry about it down the road.

There is a write up in the stickies on replacing your KS, BTW.

just get a complete intake manifold set and a knock sensor, some people also recommend doing the harness at the same time.

of course there are people who do the KS without pulling the intake

I forgot about the harness. If you get the KS from Courtesy, they have a package with the harness, too.

You can do it on a 4th gen without pulling the intake but not a VE.

I'd definitely recommend just buying new gaskets for it, you don't want to do the whole job and then have a leak and have to do it all over again. I would also recommend doing the harness at the same time, trust me it's not fun doing a KS on your car more than once...

It's been done, my buddy says he has the scraped knockles to prove it.

This I'd like to hear. How does he remove the water pipe without taking off the IM? I still think he's referring to a VQ, because scraped knuckles are commonplace with KS replacement on that engine.

There is no effin' way you can even THINK about replacing a VE KS without taking off the upper/lower IM and the coolant tube. In fact, even with the manifolds off and the tube on, you still couldn't replace it.

It WILL suck if there was an easier way to do it....then again, it wasn't really difficult to do; just time consuming.

See that tube running inbetween the heads? Let me know how to get a wrench around this to access the KS. And this is with the manifolds off.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it Jeff

And I'm pissed that you locked the civic thread....

Wait. I take that back. You can access the KS w/o removing that tube

you might be able to get a wrench on it, but good luck backing that bolt out with a socket on your wrench and getting the whole thing back out...

I highly recommend just pulling the tube, cleaning the whole area, and replacing all gaskets, your water pump, and checking for any other problems while you're in there. you do this once in the lifetime of the car- you might as well spend another couple of hours and do it right.

Matt. I was kidding.
Plus if you have the intakes off, it's only a few more bolts to get the tube off.

i replaced 3 things with air breathers, the crankcase vent thing, one that is right next to the oil one, and one that was coming out the other side of that tube behind the maf. Im plugging up the tube with some plumbing ends and just increasing the airflow to everything. i put some jb weld under and around a bit and im waiting for it to sit, so i can finally get that stupid bolt out and replace my knock sensor. ill send a pic of what i did after all this crap is done. thanks guys
