Fan Speed

I've blown the resistor that controls the lower fan speeds 3 times. Its the resistor located directly behind the glove compartment. When its blown, fan speeds 1-3 dont work, only 4(MAX), which is too much sometimes. And too loud. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas what may be causing this?
Thanks for any help you might have. Im tired of giving my nissan dealership 30 bucks every 6 months.

Although I have never heard of anything like that happening, from an electrical standpoint it sounds like there is a problem with the wiring to the resistor. I would say it is being sent too powerful of a charge and that is what is blowing it. When the resistor isn't blown, does the fan work properly (ie. all fan speeds work and are used at the proper time)?
