Tranny leak.Need Help!

i have the 404v auto tranny. i had new axles put in and theres no prob with the pass. side. but the driver side was leaking fluid before i bought the new axle where the axle goes in the tranny. i have went to a couple of auto part stores trying different axle seals that pull up in there computer, but with each one it doesnt fit correctly and still leaks. now is it a dealer only part or is something missing on the tranny itself. a lot of people say that the seal is supposed to be tapped in but theres not a tight fit for the seal to be tapped in and hold. when the old axle came out there was no old seal. only a spring that was in the seal. my tranny has a black flange on it. when you stickthe axle in it would be like a bullseye on the flange. thats the part thats too big for the seal to be tapped in. could someone please tell me whats going on or show me a pic of the flange with the driv. side axle out and what the seal is suppose to look like or give me an exact part number. i just dont want to burn out my tranny. thanks

On japanese cars its generally better to buy axle oil seals from stealership: prices are often equal, parts number knowledge is better.

Good it worked

Never understood the stealership glob all -policy: here they could charge 2 or 3 times more, and customers still would be happy. Eh no.

But thinkabout front shocks: 500$ ONE piece (=1. he he here). Whom are they gonna sell em? Millionaires? How many millionaires there are in scandinavia, how many drive (or are driven) in -93 maxima???

...sucks any way u think of it. And btw, this is not nissan specific, its all over.
