fuel leak?

i bought a 92 gxe used and have been doing some work to it... i noticed a gas smell around the back of the car whenever i filled up the car. I replaced the fuel filter and hoses and such in the engine thinking it was that. when i re-filled the car and parked it, there was a considerable amount of gas on the driveway after about 15 minutes and it reeked of gas. any suggestions? is it the gas tank? where could i get a new gastank? thanks for any help :/

Hi,

did you check to see if your car had the recall thing done by the dealer?

what you could do is call your local nissan dealer and ask to check and see if the recall was done on your car,

then give them your vin and they will check and see if the recall has been done to your car,

these are the effected area that the recall cover,

CONNECTICUT; DELAWARE; DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA; ILLINOIS; INDIANA; IOWA; MAINE; MARYLAND; MASSACHUSETTS; MICHIGAN; MINNESOTA; NEW HAMPSHIRE; NEW JERSEY; NEW YORK; OHIO; PENNSYLVANIA; RHODE ISLAND; VERMONT; WISCONSIN; AND WEST VIRGINIA

hope this help you,

yeah, i'd check to see if the filler itself is rusted at all. also, when you take the gas cap off does pressurized air come out?

If there is all that rust in that area of the gas filler, there is a good chance that it is the filler neck. You check the recall by calling Nissan (800-NISSAN1) and give them your VIN and they will let you know if the recall was done already.

On my '92 it was leaking gas in the back when I filled it up. I called Nissan and they told me the recall was already done. I was like damn now Im gonna have to pay for it. But it ended up being a rubber hose that connected the vent tube. Check that out also.
