check engine light on acceleration??

Ok, this just started happening today, I drive a 92 VE auto. I don't know what could be wrong with it. I have new NGK plat plugs(from internetautomart) and a new o2 sensor. I got a JDM motor in there.....Well, just coming home from work, I noticed a light flicker on the dash.. So Im looking at it, and as soon as i give it gas it flashes on and off....and then when i give it more gas, causing the tranny to kick down a gear, it stays on the whole time, going to go pull th ecu for codes now. Only thing that needs to be replaced that I can think of is the knock sensor......

almost sounds like its in one of the diagnostics modes however being as it comes on with throttle maybe your tps is bad

best bet would be to just pull the codes and see if anything comes up. let us know what you get from there.

its like, the second I touch the gas, the light starts flickering...but once its under heavy acceleration ( enough in an auto to make it kick down a gear) it stays on....exhaust smells fine...well whatever good exhaust smells like lol, i dont smell fuelor anything foul from the exhaust. The car doesn't even hicup, runs puuuuurfect, except this CEL coming on

hmm... try going to diagnostics mode 4, turn the key off, wait about 10 seconds or so, then turn it back and go for a drive. that should reset the ecu (even though there are no codes and such its probably still worth a try unless someone knows exactly what's going on).

well, i messed with the ecu thing...and tried pullin codes a few times...always got code 55...I made sure I turned it fully counterclockwise like it says...I haven;t seen it flash since that one time. car still runs awesome and pulls good....now to just turn it into a 5spd

Take batt out to reset the ECU; first turn ECU selector first off position. Some say needs 20 min, some say overnight...

Oxidized contacts are playing tricks with ECU. Clean...

i had this almost similar problem too when i messed with the EGR...i tested my egr by pressing that diaphram underneath it while the engine running....engine choke so everything is fine - according to the manual. i started driving then a few minutes my CEL came on then off, then after that everytime I put gas, even a slight presure on the gas pedal, the CEL will go on, I left mine alone, it annoying though, but it went away the next day. so my .02 cent, it could be the EGR.

I have a similar problem on my 200sx right now. The engine light will flicker/flash irradically and when I would floor it the light would either stay on until I let off or it would stay off until I let off the gas...weird. This would only happen about every 4th time I drove the car, and I did get an engine code one time that said something about the EGR airflow or something. I tried to check the codes again but couldn't get one because the engine light has to be on in order for the Autozone OBDII scanner to pick it up. I'll let you know if I find out what the problem is and I'd appreciate it if you would let me know if you find out too, maybe we can figure it out.
