depends on what you are doing.
The general consensus is that you need a gallon of sprayable paint (depending on paint...but usually 2qts color, 2qts reducer). That may vary with the cheaper line of paints because the coverage isnt as well. Now if you are changing colors and need to paint inside the doors, trunk and hood then it will obviously be more.
For clear you might as well just say a gallon of actual clear and then however much reducer/hardener/activator (depeding on brand) it uses.
Spray the base until hiding and then 2 coats of clear (most clears are 2 coat clears now a days) 3 coats if you plan on wet sanding and buffing. You dont want too much clear or you will get solvants trapped under the clear and it will come out causing pin holes and other problems later on.
