Squeaky clutch?
Squeaky clutch?
I just bought a 94 SE 5-spd, and the previous owner had modified it a bit. When i shift into first or reverse i have to floor (as far as it will go) the clutch or else it will grind, and then when shifting between gears, after i let off of the clutch I can hear a little squeak. Is it the clutch or could it be the suspension (dropped w/tokico blues)? And if it is the clutch, should i worry about it, and what would you reccommend for a replacement?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

i think having to floor the clutch in 1st is normal at least i have to on mine also
does the sqeak sound like its coming form under thae dash or in the engine capartment it could just be the pedal assembly.lincage i would get under the dash and make sure its not that first maybe spray some wd40 on all the jionts of the clutch pedal and see if that cures it if not it could be the clutch fork that disengages the clutch but either way i really wouldnt worry about it if it aint brook dont fix it

i don't really understand your 1st and reverse issue but maybe others here will have had some experience with it.
if your noise is coming from the inside of the car...
on the clutch pedal assembly there's a spring. it's held in place firmly with a couple thin plastic bushings. generally with age those bushings will crack and fall off. when that happens you'll sometimes get a squeak out of the spring when pushing down or letting off the clutch pedal slowly.

My 91 SE has the same type of squeak. I put some grease around the areas where the spring connects and the squeak went away. My first attempt was with WD40 but the squeak came back after a few days. So far the grease has done the job.
