I was wondering if there is a good way to apply this touch up paint and not make it look ghetto. i have a white maxima and all i could find was the tube, is there a spray that will match the factory or another color someone has used that is really close? if not is there any other suggestions as to how to apply it or other methods i could use.

Re: Touch Up Paint

The stuff in the tubes is best put on in multiple, thin coats. It sometimes needs to be buffed a little to bring out the right shade.
Duplicolor probably makes a spray that is a factory match. Find the proper name to the color of your car and the color code (ex. DJ2 is the code for my color, Black Emerald). Most national chain parts stores carry it.

Use the tube stuff and buff it down. If you suse a spray you will need to do a larger surface in order for the paint to match the rest of the car better. Eg: If you spray one part of a fender and don't do the rest it will not match cause of the wear or the older paint it get's dirty and schrached over time so the new paint will we different, so it's better to do the whole fender and then buff it down.

I've owned several cars now and I've found Plasti-Kote has matched all of them pretty well.

The best thing to do is to put several very light coats on top of each other and then buff it down. Don't worry if you go too thick, you can always lightly shave a bit off with a new razorblade. The key is to take your time.

I have seen Duplicolor in my local Pep Boys. But where can I buy Plasti-Kote? How much does it cost?

If you saw it in Pep Boys then they are probably the same thing because thats where I always get mine. Plasti-Kote maybe the company and Duplicolor might be the brand. Plasti-Kote always sticks in my mind for some reason. They are like $3 or $4 for a 2oz bottle.

Just make sure you get the right paint code out the engine bay of your car.
