Question about VE30DE ECU
Question about VE30DE ECU
I'm trying to buy a spare ecu to send to jwt for programming, and i'm looking at car-part.com and I was just wondering which one do I pick??? They have 2 choices, "Calif" and "Fed and Canada"..
I have a MT 1993 maxima. I am located in Virginia if that helps...

then assume fed.
best thing to do is, if your car has never had the hood replaced or worked on is to look at the emissions sticker.
It will say whether it is federal or cali emisions

Well you have to figure out if you have a cali spec VE. You probably don't. So since you most likely don't have canadian spec (which I never heard of), the choice seems fairly clear.
But for the record, I've used a JWT non cali spec ecu on my older cali-spec VE before. There is only one diff I that I know of. An exhaust temp sensor located next to the EGR valve.

when you send it in, I would send in your current ECU, unless you can find another 5-speed ECU. If you locate a spare AT one, just use that until the JWT comes back.
The AT ECU doesn't activate the variable intake. I used MrGone's AT ECU in my car to test it out and the car ran fine, but the VI didn't kick in at all.
Maybe someone knows if JWT will be able to change that somehow, but I probably wouldn't take that chance.
