Window Help

When I first got my car the driverside window would only roll up when it was warm outside. Then when the hurricanes came through Ga it got stuck down. It would always roll down but not always up. I took it to a friend at a body shop and he jumped it up. Since then it won't roll up or down. At least it's up though. I thought it was the switch. So I got a switch off ebay and installed it. It still doesn't work. But now when I hit the switch I here a click coming from the switch. What would you guys suggest for my next step. Any help would be appreciated.

Window regulator broke. Goto www.geocities.com/craigbrace for removal and installation instructions. You can even buy them from http://www.internetautomart.com/3rdgen.html under the third gen area.

If it was the regulator wouldn't the window fall down and not stay up?

It could be the piece where the regulator and motor connect that broke.

Yes it is. These regulator tend to break every once in a while.

The warm weather / cold weather comment sounds like this TSB.
Otherwise your regulator is jammed / broke. Remove the door trim and have a looksee. I had to replace all four regs on my '91 shortly after I bought it - they ain't cheap. Good luck.

If driver side still can move a pass window, question is electronics, possibly wet data packets... otherwise can be regulator.

Just replaced my driver's side again, second time. Plus I've had to replace all of the others...

window

the motor is probably dead if there is no humming sound. you should not try to use it if the window slows down. you can try to save it by cleaning the rail that the window slides up and down on, and lubricate it. over time dirt and grime collects and causes friction which can burn out the motor, and also causes the window to get stuck. if the window does not slide up and down smoothly it can also put stress on the plastic hinges that connect the wires of the regulator to the base where the window sits on.
