Axle advice

I'll be replacing my axles soon and was wondering if there was anything special to watch out for or special tools required. Here's what I've got:
93GXE auto/abs. Any suggestions on where to pick up the axles and seals?

Chuck

Should I expect any problems with removal or installation of the axles?

the only pita area is the passenger side driveshaft bracket. it's on the back of the engine and the bearing housing seems to always be super seized in there. once you do get it out make sure to anti seize the new bearing housing.

Been a while since I replaced the axles and now I've got a leak from the dang seal I didn't replace. I tried to get it out today but the dang thing won't come out. Any advice on how to get the seal out?

Is there a special tool required to remove the old seal? Anyone?

You can buy a generic seal remover. Usually just a thick hook you put through the middle of the seal, grab the inside wall of said seal, and pull. I'm sure you can find something around your garage that will do the same thing. If you have a deep socket that will fit snugly in the seal, you can use that as well. Place it on the end of an extension, put it into the seal about an inch, put a small amount of lateral pressure on the extension as you pull it out. This method has worked for me in the past. Just remember to exercise caution.

i think a couple people who have replaced them recently have screwed their abs up by messing up the little magnets...be careful there.

i get a slight "rusty" screeching sound off the line(as I start moving) coming from the front passenger wheel area, but goes away after the car starts rolling. sounds like metal doors being opened on an old rusty ship. could this be an axle problem? thx

I would venture to say it sounds more like a brake problem. How do your brakes look?

You're going to be sorry if you don't replace those pads and get that caliper fixed. Bare minimum: Even if you have no moolah, do a quick pad slap in the front. Money no issue? Fix the blasted things before you empty your wallet completely!

Please don't drive your car again until you properly repair your brakes. Irresponsible people like you are what causes fatal traffic accidents. If you don't care about your own safety, at least consider those around you. Your location says that you are in D.C. May I suggest the Metro or the VRE to get around?

i actually travel alot for buisness, so my locations may vary, and my 4DSC is what gets me around. but anyway, i thought normally when brakes are on their way out, they just dont feel as crisp as they use to be, thats all. them working great one second and then completely stopping, especially up to a point where somebody is in grave danger, is very hard to believe. but yeah, i'll get right on it sir. i heard they have asbestos, gotta watch out

Need Snap Ring (Circlip) for Driver's Side

Hey all, I would put this in a new post, but I don't have the necessary post count to do it yet, and I'm not into meaningless posts.

I recently replaced the clutch in my 93 SE, and in the process, I lost the circlip (snap ring) to the driver's side cv axle. I can't find these anywhere as a separate item. Does someone have an extra that you wouldn't mind mailing to me? I'll pay you for shipping, and a couple bucks for the circlip, too.

Thanks!
Mike

Does NAPA usually stock seals? I've already pulled my axles but haven't found anyone other than the dealership that has the seals.

That's the one, MyGreenMax94. If it's extra, I'll be more than glad to make arrangements to buy it from you.
