I just bought a 1994 Maxima GXE and I need some advice. What things should I invest in the first? How much will they cost approx. and where could I find them? Btw, I would like to improve exterior looks and the interior (parts that is). Thanks a lot.

i'd say get a y-pipe/exhaust if you want performance, but maybe springs/shocks for handling. depends on what area you want to pursue first.

Well if your going for looks first than the bigest improvment would to be getting new rims and tires. They arent cheap but they totally change the appearance of the car. You need to make sure that you have money to lower the car after you get new rims because the maxima looks like a tank if you dont get it lowered with nice rims. If you dont have the money for rims and tires there are a lot of things you can change in the interior for cheap. But you have yo be pretty handy and have a lot of time. My whole interior in my car has been changed. It used to be all brown inside. I have taken everything out and replaced all of the fabric with yellow and all the dash, door panels and everything else that wasnt fabric was painted black. It looks really nice. Its a lot of work so you might not want to go this drastic. I'm trying to put my car in a show and on the race track. If you want any other specific ideas just let me or the other guys know.

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

i already painted all the plastic pieces in my interior white, and the rest of the interior is black. i wanna get the seats covered in black and white vinyl. it looks really nice, but most of the guys on here would say its "ricer". its a lot of work and you have to take your time to paint it nice, but if you dont have a lot of money, its a good thing to do.
btw chris, got any pics? i bet the black and yellow looks good.

The first "investment" I'd make would not be cosmetic. Spend your first wad changing ALL the fluids. Oil, transmission, brake fluid, anti-freeze, PS. Don't forget the all filters - oil, air, gas, transmission.

Then look at the age of the battery. If it's original. Change it.

Then I'd replace all the belts and top and bottom radiator hoses.

Next think about cosmetics...

My humble 2 cents.

Well right now my car looks a little shady from the exterior to the interior. The inside is yellow and black as I said and I have certain pieces on my dash and doors painted the same color blue that I will be painting my car on christmas break. The outside of the car is gold so they dont exactly match right now. As soon as it gets painted everything should be nice. The Black, Yellow and blue on the inside actually look really good. I thought that the colors wouldn't look right at first but I was impressed. My yellow racing seats really set everything off! If you want new seats I would recomend some racing seats. Although I'm not sure what they would look like with back seats. My back seats were gutted. Only enough room in my car for me and my girl. The way I like it! Well good luck with your customizing. Dont worry about being a ricer. Theres nothing wrong with making your car look good, as long as you can back it up with speed no one will complain.
