quarts of transmission fluid do I need to get for my 92 gxe? I want to change it out and am not sure what kind to get or how much. Any help would be appreciated.

I heard somewhere that its best to use Nissanmatic Transmission Fluid but from what I have learned, there is a NissanMatic A, B, and C types of fluids. I think my car takes Nissanmatic C but am not sure. I hate the jerks at the dealership so I don't bother with them anymore and I was ecstatic when I found this site and realized the wealth of information found here.

i think it was about 4 quarts for me and i used ATF dexron with mercon III, or something like that. when you drain the old fluid, pour it into a clear plastic gallon bottle so you can make a good estimate of how much you took out. Also make sure you have a 1/2 inch square drive to get the drain plug out, it's not a standard bolt.

Please excuse the stupidity of this question, but do Maxima's have transmission filters, and if so, would that need to changed as well?
