high speed, engine died!!

Well last night i decided to try out how fast my new car would go and i was quite shocked...It is amazingly faster than the VG. But, when i decided to let off of the gas, the engine just died/turned off. It started right up again, in gear and every thing but what would make the car die at near top speed?

P.S. I know i will get flamed for being an idiot, but im 18, and stupid at times.

Only if u keep silent, wont get flamed. Solution: Buy flame resistant pants, helmet with horns... --->"...stupid at times" means your mostly wise. Thats a great achivement, most humans are stupid all the time. Buy more wisdom. With that, seek understanding.

Only personal problem comes if police gotcha. Or if wheel turns off, eternity starts...

Check out the wiring diagram for devices/wiring cutoff that kill engines. Next figure which might be affected vibration, engine angle change[gas on/off] heat...

Wikings use 'em to scare off cossacks... Tinhat keeps u bald snow free, shields intel inside. Boat leaks; tinhat used also as pump; keeping water in circulation back to the sea...

Maybe you decelerated faster than the ECU wanted to respond.
or there may be another problem with it.
only 1 solution.
DON'T DO IT ANYMORE

This happened to me too when I first got my VE. Take a look at the plugs, coils, fuel filter, and Mass Air Flow Sensor. Is it doing anything else out of the ordinary at any other time?

no, except really taking off in second gear, and convince me to bring third gear to redline as well...I think im addicted to speed. It runs great though, thats why i was so confused when it just died. It wasn't loud or anything i just looked at the tach and it was laying there, but decelerating too fast will kill it? I dropped about 20mphs in about a second.

So the car turned "off" at high speeds. Hmmm then you lose your powersteering assist and the brake booster vacuum??? Glad you don't live near me.

Well the engine died, but the lights and stereo and everything still worked. I didn't notice a difference in brake or steering feel...Yeah i did it at 430 a.m. with no cars because if im gonna endanger lives, im gonna only endanger my own. If i saw a car i wouldnt have done it

Well the brakes are assisted by engine vacuum. Hopefully you had some stored. The ps pump is run off a pulley(that attached to the engine). So unless you have electrically run PS pump, you should have lost steering. Of course if you just to straight, you won't feel anything.

Does it die if you just free rev the engine (i.e. neutral)? If the engine can't recover back to idle, the idle air control valve might be sluggish.

nah my engine doesnt die in any other situation it runs beautifully except if i rev it in neutral it takes about 3-4 seconds to return to idle but i thought that was normal. I should have noticed loss of PS and PB because i was slowing down downhill through a curve lol, but didn't. Maybe the adrenaline made the brake assist and lack of power steering seem obsolete for the 5 secodns the engine was off. About the lights, all of the red lights turned on (oil, battery, seatbelt,...) as if you turned the ignition to ACC and had the headlights on, except i was rolling. I thought i blew something but i just turned the key and had the motor running again, it was really weird. It ran fine after that too, but the brakes were angry with me for a few minutes .

Hey.. i know the answer

i'm pretty sure it's one of the injectors.. that happened to me too.. when one of the injector was going on/off.. when i was going on the highway.. i let off the gas pedal.. and the engine died.. u might wanna wait until it really goes bad... then change it.

yeah i engine braked in 5th gear...

Dude if its an injector problem i will be so excited...It means i have a reason to work on it more, and that means more power once its complete right? What are other signs that an injector is going bad?

...if 1 of 6 is dead, 5 are still alive. V6-wise it means great life with putput.

To kill an engine, u have to go to the ctrl point of all six cyl's... btw. figure out whats that.

Hasn't GreenMaxVE mentioned "If the engine can't recover back to idle, the idle air control valve might be sluggish" and after you said "if i rev it in neutral it takes about 3-4 seconds to return to idle but i thought that was normal"... Have you checked that problem out yet?

If it's taking 3-4 seconds and hunting up and down to find the idle, then it could be a lazy/dirty IACV (among other things). On the other hand, if the engine is taking 3-4 seconds to wind down from a high rev and going right to idle ~750, then the valve is probably ok.

Yeah, don't talk about doing high speed runs in our cars on this website because our cars are so wikedly fast, death is almost certainly inevitable. Buy an 03 Cobra /SS Camaro/ 350 Z or even an SRT-4 which can get up to speed pretty fast, but not as fast as our Maxima's can.
It's amazing how on other websites (need2speed.com/ LS1.com/ SVTperformance.com), questions like yours are posted on a daily basis; but here they are about as rare as maxima's running 13's.
Oh well, maybe someday the org. will join the 21st century and allow people like you and me to post our crazy street racing stories. But untill then, keep it to yourself like i do.

haha youre like me, i was always trying to blame the injectors for everything when i first got the car since i heard it was a common issue, and i was hooping for more power.
