Weird Electrical Problem

Please help with electrical problem. It drives me nuts. My interial lights (dome and reading lights) stop working. Here are what I have observed and done:
- I have not done any rewire to the car.
- Checked all bulbs, fuses OK.
- When I open the doors, only the door lights are on not the dome light at the ceiling.
- The lights were working and I they just die over night.
- One day the lights worked as expected for about 10 minutes with out me fixing anyhing. Of course I push on /off on the switch to see it working. It has not worked again since then.
- Today I've noticed if I turn the lights on from inside (pushing the switch next to the lights on the ceiling) the lights are not on but the ring green light around the inition keys turns on. I can repeat this every time.

What is wrong with my electrical system????

"...pushing the switch" --->Problem with lamp assy itself: Take the lamp cover off, lamp off, assembly off. Check, clean. Screw on.

Guys. Thanks for your quick replies. Wiking- I opened the cover and checked& clean the lamps but no favorable result. I used an ohm meter and detect no voltage to the lamps. As Internetautomar (new logo? I like it) said may be it a short some where... I'm going to have a hell of time looking for it. Thanks

It might be the light timer box under the drivers side dash panel.

I'll copy that msg tip to anybodys box who does not want to go have hell of time before time... at least before time because of maxima. Basically the same info I received thanks to mr... ...at request can add on a [never to hell] warranty script 3:16 to cover that for ever; not just lifetime.
