Lights on my HVAC unit don't work right.

When I turn my headlights on, sometimes the heat/AC controls on the dashboard don't light up, or sometimes they're dim, or sometimes they blink...I'm not sure why. Tonight when they weren't working, I just whacked it and they lit up. All of the other lights on the dash work, just not these. Oh, and its just the lights on the face beind the white text on the face...the little green lights on the square buttons, and behind the sliders and stuff still work.

Is there a lightbulb I can change under the dash face, or do I have to pull the HVAC unit out? If I have to pull that part out, I'm not going to bother.
