Axle ? (pics)

Axle ? (pics)

i had trouble getting the driver side axle in and it finally went in but im not sure if its all the way in? heres the pic tell me what you think

Nope. You have to push it until the circlip snaps into place. It is really tough to do especially if its the first time. But you really gotts push it in there. When it is in you will know it.

so all i have to do is push real hard because i pushed super hard to get it in this far
any tips?

i used a soft hammer and hammered the outer end of it straight in. Two or three hits and you hear a click, youl'll feel/hear the "click".
if u dont have a soft hammer use a piece of wood with a regular hammer. (just the hammer will damage the threads)

When it is NOT in you will know it:

After doing this the hard way, and trying to get the axel to seat properly. I bit the bullet and admitted that it was the wrong part. ALWAYS bring your core back in your car w/ part installed and working. Basically the prblem was that Maxima calls it a limited slip differential while checker calls it a locking differential.

Other places call it a "high speed differential".

got her in what a pain though i had to pinch the lock ring thing with a vice grip and then heated it up till it stayed pinched and then slaped a bunch of grease on her and slammed her in. but at first i tryed the mallet thing with wood and tore my boot about an inch so i put some goop glue on it its a flexible silicon glue hopefully it will keep in the grease and keep out the dirt or ill be doing it all over again thnaks for the help

i hit the piece of wood so hard with a mallet that it pushed agasint the axle casing thing and riped it. o well its a learning expierence
