Resetting the ECU after exhaust install

Is it really nessecary to disconnect the battery for a full 24 hour period to allow for the ECU to reset itself after an exhaust install (to allow the engine to adjust the flow rate or something I am assuming)? I have heard this but wouldn't it be the same thing to just unplug the battery for a second then re-connect it? Thanks!

No you don't need to do that. Disconnecting the battery cable for few minutes will do the trick. But for exast upgrade it does not need to be reset.

Its not sec's, its minutes. Half hour or more, maybe ½night. lol.

The diff times might be because of diff ECU's. And different opinions at nissan R&D resulting in jokes in the FSM. The focused question is how long the ECU pcb condensators keep register memory chips up. Now try to research that. And then find out your ECU was made with some other components...

ECU's are/were made in china, malesia, indonesia -or- all of those plus x ...and who knows with which components on what date???? Arent we lucky that Bill gates has not his stocks on these. Yet. Oh, wait for the day we have windows communicating with highway honda viruses... or daewoo.

But whatsda problem? Is your maxima being driven 24hrs a day? Just loosen the cable long enough, some day or night...

I just unplugged it for the length of the install and when I was done, plugged it back in, worked fine.
