Optima Red Tops

I have run into a slight problem... Optima says that currently do not have one for the Maxima.

And after years of making them work in about every vehicle known to man. I know one can fit. I'm just trying to see if anyone has already done it.

If not, I guess I have to wait till I get back. And make one work

I have a Yellow-top in my max, but I think those are different sizes than the reds cause of the sealed cells.

all optimas are sealed. the yellow top is deep cycle and the red is starter.

i don't think they make the 34R in deep cycle.. you might have a 34 or 34 w/ dual terminal....need to have a spacer on the bottom too.

IIRC, the yellow top is a dual-purpose battery (starter and deep cycle). Although, the red top IS designed specifically for engine starting. And you're right... Optima only makes the 34 and 75 models in dual post applications, I think.

The org comes through again. I could smell the BS from the guy even though it was an email from my wife.

So I just need to have a spacer added huh? Easy enough... then when I get back I'll cut the rods down and rethread it.

Thnx guys

i don't know if they market the yellow as a dual purpose because their redtop has more CCA compared to the yellow. doesn't mean that the yellow can't start your car...but i don't think they market the yellow as the starter battery.

the maxima does run reverse terminals BUT since the battery itself is shorter the regular terminal set up will reach the posts on the battery. the 34R is formerly the orange top...but now they just put a red top on it.

Hmmm, information that should possibly be put in the stickies. I have never seen this subject come up... Of course I wouldn't have had this problem if I wasn't on the other side of the world from my Max...
