VE Maxima vs. Taurus SHO

What do u guys think, my friend gave me a ride home in his 94 SHO and it seemed pretty quick, seemed a little faster than my A/T VE , His SHO was also an automatic, and i do not know that much about them but i know they make a modle with a yamaha engion, which he does not have. Seems like a pretty good race tho if i had a 5 speed, what do u guys think? but i mean it still is a TAURUS

They're pretty fast, but heavy as hell. It's a Ford so it;s chock full of electrical gremlins. The engine in those cars is the only part that dosnt suck.

I'm pretty sure all SHOs made back then had the Yamaha engines.

yup... keep the racing posts off here.

stock for stock, the SHO is a good match though.. back when both these cars were made, they were direct competitors for market share and on the track.

Its a nice car. I looked at them also when I was looking for a like-year Maxima. I test drove a 94 5speed version and it didn't drive any different than a Maxima in town other than it has more low-end power than the VE.

In the comparison I have in Car and Driver from 1992, the SHO beat the Maxima in both 0-60 (SHO = 6.4, Maxima = 7.0) and quarter mile (SHO = 15.1 @ 93, Maxima = 15.5 @ 91). Both cars were 5-speeds, though.

Stock for stock, the SHO is faster, but not by a whole lot. I am not too sure about either car with an auto tranny, either.

Yeah, don't post your "race results" here. There is a weekend battles section in the General Maxima forum. Go there for your racing fix. You will get locked and/or banned here for it.

i'd like to see the ford last as long as the maxima does

well... not including trannies. considering nissan uses borg warner (as does ford a lot ironically) that'd be the only downfall.

Look up the R/R time for a valve cover gasket on a SHO. That should be enough to steer clear.
