door trim can YOU get them off

Ok, so ive got my FSM here and it shows how the moldings are in for the doors. Looks hard to get out.....so i go to try and they are damn near impossible, after some hard **** pulling i couldnt get it even close to budge but finally popped one snap. is there a special tool i could use? the darn screw driver wont work, feel like im gonna break the glass too.

ive got a good door with gxe trim that i want to put on my car and swap trims, but it seems to be way to much work. anyone got tips i can try without ruining the trim since im gonna swap my current to the gxe door?

The only one that's in very tight is the top one among the two screws that hold the door handle in. Other than that, they are all very easy to remove. I have done all four regulators, so had to remove trim on all doors. I really don't understand why you're having so much trouble with them.

you are talking about the belt molding correct? The piece that is just below the windows.

I have never had a problem getting them out.

There is one screw or nut holding them on. Take that off then with the window down reach insice and pull the bottom of that molding out away from the door and pull up at the same time. It should come right up that way...its the way I always do it. It may be easier if you take your door panes off though so you can have more play to move the windows.

I got all brand new belt moldings and if I ever paint my 92 I am going to put them on. I originally got them for the 93 but am going to keep them for my 92.

they were like $160 for all 4.

belt molding, yes!!

i took them off the door i want to put on my car. I guess ill go to the dealer and find out how much for the drivers side rear belt moldings. unless you got them somwhere else mike?

The snaps that hold the upper right(from my pic) were pretty hard to get out. I bent the one that was on there, maybe the only peice i need really. Ill try your technique on the door thats on my car, thanks Mike!

lol chris is funny!

there are no screws per say, they are plastic "screws" they push in and and keep them secure, youre supposed to just pry them up.

well icalled the dealer........they said that the top running piece and bottom running piece are $38.50 each and the curved one is $67.58 so does anyone know where they are cheaper? michael you said you got all for doors for $160...where might that be there fella. lol Im not in the mood to pay over 120 for one doors belt trim.

oh and a side note, the bottom piece aka molding aka ding gaurd, is 78 bone at the dealership.

edit, i think you meant the middle one too that seperates the rear window from the tiny window, that makes 160 .......crap this is too expensive........

Yeah that back metal molding is a pain. I always slip a think flat head in there and push up against the tabs itself. I have bent one of those too so dont feel bad.

I dont think I have any spare belt moldings right now. I will after I put my new ones on but just dont right now.

I would just get all 4 because they look so good lol.

no there is one screw in the black part. all mine have it. I paid that for just the belt moldings (the bottom piece) not the rest of the moldings. I got them from Kaleb at courtesy nissan.

here are 3 pics...the last one showing the spot where the screw goes in.

Ok, so it seems that you pop the interior door trim out to access that screw. Can you pop the other plastic screws out from the inside as well?
