Superbright reverse lights

These require light modification but the results would be good.

i doubt it would be any brighter
leds are directional and our bulbs sit sideways and wouldnt reflet off the mirror
i tryed it once with something similar to 1156 but it didnt reflect well
the first one might work but it too wouldnt be able to reflect well
try it there only 15 bucks

my reverse lights suck so bad i'm tempted to put the bmw lights back there

i'd be tempted to try those leds out. that'd definitely be nice to have brighter reverse lights.

it isn't difficult to fab up a few LEDs held together by hot glue and make it bend and point sideways so that it bends into the insert and points backwards... just takes time and skill....

There is a major difference between seeing a LEDs narrow beam and seeing the reflected light coming off of objects behind your vehicle because its being illuminated by LEDs...........

My guess is its going to be a waste of time and money -

Its so if u think only how to C... But its also invaluable multiphysical learning, that aspect is not waste. 15$, two hour DIY lessons, dirt cheapo

If u wanna C, take one/two REAL foglight(s) and install it underbody near rearaxle.

edit: I think the prices are good as price only for one bright led is .4 to 1$

Im 90 % sure on this one. While its true our rear light harness points the bulb at an angle, This way you would be able to point the leds so that they shine through the lens. You can prolly just glue the led cluster to the plastic lens itself. I'll try it and post if good results are gained

As for LED's you could try something llike this here; http://www.ledtronics.com/ds/aut1157ri/. I was tempted to try them but went another direction. I recently discovered these; http://www.procarparts.com/store-det...R91X%2D4261LBX. And I might end up buying a set.

"Twice as bright" probably also equals "Twice as hot"
I learned this the hard way with 100/80W bulbs in the headlights (melted the headlight wires).
Careful you don't melt something more expensive (of course, your backup lights won't be on that long, unless you back up a LOT).

yeah, leds barely put out any heat at all, if any at all. on top of that they last a very, very long time.

Yes, I know LED's don't produce much heat.
I was referring to the link (http://www.procarparts.com/store-de...NR91X%2D4261LBX) that tmnismo91 had in his post with the site advertising the INCANDESCENT bulbs that were "twice as bright."
And to think I wasted all that money on an Electrical Engineering degree.

LOL, I bet that degree did pay for itself.... I really don't think that bulb does what it says it does. The reason I say that is because it really can't produce much more light than an H3 bulb. I too had this notion to produce more rear light due to my limo tinted windows. So I went to the hardware store and bought a couple bulbs that were an H3 platform minus the metal base. I bent the leads and mounted them on the taillight assembly after removing the 1157 (or is it 1156), anyways. I actually expected it to put out more light- it didn't. So I was stuck with the stock bulb. "Hyperwhites" or blue bulbs don't help much either. I remember a few years back this girl I knew gave me two purple reverse lights. When I say purple, I mean almost non transparent. I thought WTF?!? I think I still have those bulbs somewhere around the house, lol. Never used them.

there's no hope for this. our reverse light housing is the weak link. if you really want a good reverse light, just get a cheap fog light and mount it just behind the rear bumper. wire it to the reverse lights and you'll have plenty of light in reverse. i've been planning to do this for a while now because our reverse lights are much worse when looking through 20% tint or darker. and even more dangerous when it's raining or snowing.

I wasn't gonna say anything because this has been an idea of mine for a while and I wanted to be the first to do it, but oh well..

If you've noticed how some people have "cleared" out the bottom part of their tails, do that and then use both sections (stock reverse and stock signal) as the reverse light section, then use a relay and make one of the brake lights a turn signal too, pretty simple and if you put in some nice bulbs you'll get nice output

As far as Im concerned, this still will end up being brighter than stock. I have taken apart the housing and there is nothing in them that hinders the light output besides the small amount of space. Well, there is a removable diffuser in the taillight reverse spot that can come out. Other than that, it's pure speculation and hater-ation goin on. The bulbs are on the way though...I kinda like the foglight-under-the-car-idea though!
