LSD question

92 SE, does it come with LSD or not..if not, where can I get an LSD tranny?
My car pulls hard to the left everytime I launch hard.
I have big HP plans for the car and without LSD I would basically be flyng into the left wall or something at the tracks.

if your tranny code (on the firewall) ENDS with a V, then it has LSD

edit: ends with V, not starts with V

How can I see this code? ( gosh I am car illiterate ) I'm a pc geek and Im guessing that the firewall is behind the engine? and I'd have to take my dash off?

your firewall is the wall which seperates your engine compartment from the inside of your car. open up your hood. it should be near the center.

whoops, I'm sorry, I meant to say if it ENDS with a V, then it has LSD

so you've got the LSD tranny

what kind of plans do you have for big HP? not to be rude, but I imagine you are having someone else do the work for you (since you admit to not being car literate and not knowing what a firewall is)

Well my people ( friends ) have been modifying cars for years.
Two own shops in nyc.
The turbo I'm going to set up with help from some dude on the org and my friends were looking into boring/sleving the block and adding larger pistons, zero balancing etc etc etc..basically they have built 10 and 11 seconds civics/intregras and wanted to take a shot @ the nissan.

Just had the car for 3 weeks now, I'll give it a full tune up/alignment/new suspension and tell yall how it handles

btw, would a SE be capable of handling big HP? like 300+ I saw one turbo red one with 280 hp.

That's probably the reason for the pulling. I know that a stock VG can probably do around 250 hp to give a lowball answer. I know that the VE has a high CR so it'll be dangerous to do that for detenation (sp?) It is suggested to get some low compression pistons and cams first for the boost. That is to prevent seeing you and your car from turning into ash.

The VE has LOTS of potential. Noone has yet to push the VE to it's limits as of HP wise. You might get what the VQ guys are getting on a stock block. There's one 4th gen that has like 500whp on a stock block. The VE and VQ share similar characteristics other than the VE being better when the VTC's don't tick.

WTF? the VE and VQ share NOTHING in common!
the VE is the bastard child of the VG30DE. the internals are almost all the same.. forged crank, same rods and bearings. cams and crank are similar in design, but the ends are machined to accept a timing chain instead of a belt..

the VE is very capable of putting down some awesome power numbers, but nobody on .org has done it yet.

I have heard a few time that the Vq was built off of the VE's platform that is why I said what I said. But then again I drive a VG.

Off topic... but I just got an Rx-7 project too... Its hard to decide which car to dump money into. I love my Maxima because I had one as my first car(now I'm on my 3rd) but the rx-7 is cool too... One thing the Rx-7 will have trouble with is torque, If you have an 86-91 N/A you might have some trouble getting it up to 190tq to match the Maxima without some serious bolt-ons or porting... the reason I got an Rx-7 was for the Rwd, and I've always liked the way an FC looks. The down fall of the maxima is that it is FWD...I would say to do some mild mods on the maxima, to get a fast daily driver and go wild on the Rx-7 (maybe a (twin) turbo 20b or something?... if that is even possible...)
