Lowering springs

I want to lower my car and as always money is a big issue. I don't know what all I need to purchase to put these on my car. There is a set of lowering springs on ebay for about $100. Can I put these on my car and get the"1.7 inch drop in the front and 1.5 inch drop in the back" without more modification?

What's the brand? There are crappy springs on Ebay that are advertised as fitting our cars, but in reality they are most likely 4th gen springs and the vendor is an idiot. The cheapest springs I've seen for our cars are either Sprint or Suspension Techniques, both of which are ~$150 new if you look hard. Don't cheap out on springs.

you should really expect to spend around 200 on just springs. if you go for a heavy drop then you need to spend a bit on struts too. ebiach, sprint, suspension techniques for springs. kyb, initrax, or koni for struts. ebiach/kyb is least drop, but is great for handling

When you say "heavy drop" what do you mean by that? I don't think I can drop my car too much Cuz I have 18 inch rims on it. So I'm guessing for like a 1.5" drop I don't need new struts??

[QUOTE=90MAXGMG I don't think I can drop my car too much Cuz I have 18 inch rims on it. [/QUOTE]

The size of the wheels does not matter (up to 18" that is) if you got the right offset...you got the right offset right?

I have 18s and they tuck a little (intrax...1.75 drop). They have no clearance issues at all.

Shavedmax had 18s that really tucked (has hydrolics) without clearance issues...how he as 20s that tuck but he had to do some mods to get them to tuck as much as he wanted.

The only reason it will make a difference is if you get the wrong size tire and its really tall (or in the case of 20s where you have to have a taller tire than stock because the wheel is so big) or you dont have the right offset.

For all I know you may have gotten the wrong size tire or wrong offset though...if thats the case then yeah you may have some fender rub.

If you dont have strut rub now you never will though. The strut doesnt change with a drop because the spring is higher than where the tire is anyway...so the tire will always be in the same spot in relation to the strut whether you lower it 1 or 5 inches.

of course it is...its just a matter of looks. I had my factory wheels on for a while when I got my 92SE. If you check the last page of my 93 site you will see the car on factory wheel but with intrax springs.

Some think it looks funny but to me it didnt look that bad. To me the factory wheels on a lowered car looks better than aftermarket plus size wheels on a non lowered car.

KYBs work fine with Eibachs but more aggressive springs will require more expensive struts like Tokicos or Konis. Stock struts will be blown in no time with any aftermarket springs and it will ride and handle rather poorly.
