Was curious to who if anyone has done any ignition upgrades such as hks or msd and if you noticed any difference?

Ve30DE? No. Just make sure your coils/plugs are in tip top condition

VG30? There are many upgrades such as msd/accell etc..

The VE has a COIL ON PLUG ignitions system, which means that each individual cylinder has it's own coil mounted directly on top of the plug.
there are no wires to replace, no cap , and no rotor. nothing to really upgrade.
you're already dealing with the most effecient ignition system available.
as long as it works right

You pretty much answered your own question with that link. It says right there that it produces a hotter spark etc. etc.,
I was going to buy one of those for my Max. but only because I was going to run N20.
Why do you want to upgrade your ignition system, or have you been bit by the curiosity bug?

For that price, you're better off spending a bit more and buying a tuneable engine management system. Then, you can fine tune and create your own maps.

What's a grand to tune i/o of engine, if you have no problem paying $700 just for spark?

What the hell, if you are going to spend $1500, might as well spend another 2 grand and totally build the engine too.

Sounds good to me. Might as well jump right on in. Seriously, are there any mods you would put to the back burner to buy a $700 ignition module? Not me. More suspension. More brakes. More motor. That's my point. I guess one could make an argument for more productive ignition, though.

Why not just spend another 10 grand and get a maxima with a 3.5 that will beat most engine rebuilds and tunes...

I read what the description says, but was curious as to if any of you had any insight on it.....especially those who have an ignition upgrade. I actually have this unit and I didnt pay $700 for it, was more like $200 from a friend, but im reluctant to put it on if it won't do me any good when im pretty sure i could turn around and sell it for more.

You got it that cheap and it works? That's another story. Hook it up, drive it around, see if you like it. What the heck?!? If you don't like it, take it off and sell it for a little profit.

Well for me, it makes my mustang run

but really, it fires off 3-4 sparks instead of just one upto ~3000rpm or so, maximizes fuel economy, makes the engine run abit smoother, more complete burn = more powah.

btw, do you have speakers cut into your rear decklid or something funny? I saw a GXE up in Whistler a few months ago. Tan interior.

did you cut out the rear grills to mount the speakers? maybe it was grey, i dont remember. I was too busy crying about the speakers not being behind the grills.

MSD...multiple spark discharge...it produces multiple sparks instead of one big spark. If you got to their page I am sure they tell how they do it.

The MSD only works at low RPM though. The multiple sparks only happen for a certain rpm range.

I chose Mallory for my race cars a while back (still have the box btw) because it was a much hotter spark and I would be out of the multi spark range while racing anyway. That was a good 12 years ago though so they may have changed it up some since then.

haha well since I have not current race car then yeah lol.

The fastest one of my cars has gone was mid to high 11s though...which was decent at the time but easily passed now a days with all the power adders so much cheaper and technology so much better. I know that statement sounds like I have been out of racing for 50 years but its really only been about 10. Things have come a long way in those 10 years.
