Leaking front & rear seals

Well, both have been leaking slightly for a long time now. Not enough for a drop in oil levels, but enough to cause a noticable mess on the bottom of the car. So, a few questions...

1. Is this common?
2. How long will it be until I NEED to replace them? Do these things get bad, fast, or just hang around and annoy you?
3. How hard is it to replace? My buddy says, it's a *****. Yes?

- yes
- how long does it take to get from here to t here
- it? I thought u wrote 'both'? Buddy is ½ right.

Not dangerous: keeps chassis rust protection updated, no downloads needed...

Replace the front as u wish, two ? hour job.

RRear when tranny/clutch needs to be taken off. Build ? 'diapers' under tranny...

Hmm, 2 hours for front seal? Are you sure? That's not bad at all. Is that with, or without pulling the engine?

The tranny isn't leaking much at all, not enough to drip, just enough to create a bunch of dirt on the underside of the car. That one seems like it will be harder.

Its one hour -if- you have shop quality tools. Belts off, front tire off, shield off, then the pulley off. Bolt and pulling out pulley may take 'all' the time IF... But with proper tools 2minutes.

The seal itself is pried out with screwdriver, new pushed in. Prepare in advace some pipe to push it equally in, so u wont rip it. Moist the seal first with oil.

I may be able to get access to a shop, and do it some fine saturday morning. But, it's not too bad, not enough to drip to the ground anyway.

Make sure you get 2 oil pan gaskets as well. I thought my main seal was leaking, but it turned out to be the oil pan gasket.
