what the ??? whats wrong with trans
i got a 89 nissan maxima from a lady and it was sitting for like 3 yrs.. not moved and i started it up today to see if it works and when i put it in gear u have to take it to atleast 3000-3500 rpms till it will even move a little and in L AND 2 it wont move at all. the same for rev..... just say forget it and get new one or what??????????????? its an automatic.... thanks

Edit: Transmission fluid was topped off. Car ran like a raped ape until I sold it.

Check fluid, drive it a bit, when they sit that long, the torque converters drain out as far as they can, and things tend to stick, too.
change the fluid while it's all at the bottom, you'll scare yourself s#!tless with the mess in the bottom of the pan (lots of stuff suspends in tranny fluid, but settles out after a year or so). My '89 bonneville sat quite a while before I got it, and i changed the fluid before we fired up the engine (had to re-build, so while we were down there fixing stuff anyways...), it was gross; so much metal and black junk down there. tranny ran perfectly (and the engine too) until it wouldn't start at -22f one morning.
