VE engine swap

Some of you may remember i recently bought a 92 maxima with a bad headgasket. I have decided to just buy a whole new engine. This one has 207,000 miles on it, and it wouldnt bother me except for i dont know how it was treated. So i am just going to get a used engine.

Where is the best place to find one? I know that ebay has some nice JDM's with a warranty, but i didnt know if there was a place like enginesRus.com or something like that. I know there is a sticky on how to do the engine swap, and what i should replace on the way so i wont trouble with asking that. But im just curioius as to where to find a good engine, i will check the junkyards, but i would rather pay more and get a less mileage engine that i know is good.

Actually, i looked thru the stickies and couldnt find the VE engine swap info, so if someone knows where it is, i would love that too. Thanks

I would do studs and knock sensor minimum. Might as well do VTC's while your at it if you can, and check the water pump.

definitly do water pump mine started to leak about a month after i put my engine in and it would have been SSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO much easier to do with the engine out of the car plus there only like 30$ from the zone

definitly consider the VTCs also mine died about 20k miles after install

JDM VEs can be found on ebay for about $1k other than that good luck finding one with lower miles for less because you wont

Mine cost just under $1k (with sorry a$$ Washington State tax) and that included delivery to Jeff's house and a 1 year, unlimited mile warranty.

I second the VTC thing (or third). Mine are clacking and I have only had it since September.

You might as well do all that you can, since it is much easier to work on things with the engine out of the car, right Jeff? Studs, seals, gaskets, KS, water pump. Other than the VTCs and a slight idle problem (I think the IACV) my car runs like brand new. Doesn't leak a drop of anything and no stud issues.

Read through that sticky about JDM really well. Especially the stuff Keelan and Jeff put in there. Both of those guys are very thorough and have lots of experience with this shiet.

that is true but i'm sure i could get my hands on a ve for much cheaper than a $1000usd.
of course, if that price includes delivery anywhere in the continental u.s. it's not too bad.

Sure. Do a search and let us know. Ebay VEs are like $1,000. Importers around here want $850-$1100.
