seatbelt warning light comes on? O2 sens quest

my seatbelt warning light comes on sometimes while driving, and it starts chiming after a minute or two - real annoying. I tried wiggling the seatbelt around trying to see if the connection was loose or whatever to no avail. It seems like it will go on or off mostly around corners. Anyone had any exp. with this, or how to fix? Or could I possibly disconnect it so it never comes on again?

other question - I think my 02 sens. is bad - if I disconnect it and drive it around when it's warm (car only has lack of power when engine warm) will the check engine light come on? I read in the manual that you can disconnect the sensor and if the car feels better then it's probably bad. I did the ecu check mode and i got a normal code (5 5 I think it was) but I still think it's bad. Either that or a clogged cat is causing my horrible acceleration, but you need an expensive tester to test the cat, correct? I guess it could be the KS or coil packs, or injectors. I will have to figure that out in due time, but the seatbelt light is annoying me a lot. thanks in advance

if your o2 has over 60k on it, replace it.
your cat can be checked with an infrared thermometer.
it should be hotter at the outlet than the inlet IIRC

Ryanmax:

You do not test O2 sensor in test mode 3. Use test mode 1 and count the number of green flashes per 10 seconds. Should be more than 5. Mine counts 9-10.

I thought that you could check it in mode 3. Huh... well I will try doing it in mode 1 and count the flashes and post back. thanks for the replies. Just a thought....since so many people have trouble with "loss of power" and bad 02 sensors, and poor gas mileage and clogged cats, maybe one ongoing post about all of the above, with tons of information is a good idea. I know a lot of things come into play like ks, and injectors and coil packs, but maybe one post at the top just for clogged cats, bad 02 sensors and the like. any ideas?

In mode 3 you only see if the connection to the sensor is broken or not, basically it gives you a yes/no answer to if you have O2 sensor or not. It does not tell you how well it is performing. It would be the same I guess as looking at your CEL: once the harness is broken or the sensor looses conductivity, the CEL comes on. Mode 1 tells you how often your ECU hears from the sensor about how rich or lean the mixture is. If the sensor is contaminated with oil, for instance, it will conduct current, but send no signal - your CEL will not be on, there will be code 5-5 in mode 3, but no flashes in mode 1 - not good.
