Automatic Seatbelt Question

I surf alot and i dont wana put roof racks on my car so an alternative is to run straps threw ur car and closing the doors on them.....but then the auto seatbelt comes and hits the strap and stops like 3/4 of the way up the track. Will the belt motor eventually break or are they pretty durable? Is there a fuse for the seatbelts that i can just pull?

I have the same problem, what I do is leave the front straps untied, then close the doors. Afterward tighten the front. It works fine. Just remember to undo the straps when you need to get out or else they'll get caught again. Just takes some getting used to it's not really a problem. I wouldn't want to ruin the motor, you might have more trouble later on with that.

what i'd really like to do is mod the back seat so that it fold down. Then i wouldn't have to put my board in the passenger seat when i go out by myself... Anyone have any suggestions for that??

The back seat doesnt fold down... But if you take it out you have access to the trunk which =lots of space.

This would be an awesome mod! But instead of a fold down, add a 'through compartment'. I know BMW has a kit for ski bag retro, and I believe Audi does to. The purpose of this kit, obviously, is to add a ski bag into the existing seat. The bag keeps the snow and ice out of the back seat. Tons of people would love it if you did a write-up on the install. Not me as much, my snowboard sits dry in a closet in Texas, now.

If you are willing to spend some $$, the 3rd gens in Australia and New Zealand have fold down seats. Maybe you could pay one of the members we have to find a back seat and ship it to you.

It would cost quite a bit for the seat, shipping and you would probably have to swap fabric somehow if it doesn't match.

If you take out the cardboard and rear backing, you can make a ski-sized opening through where the rear arm-rest is, but it's too small for a surf board.

As for the seatbelts, they have a lifetime warranty, so if the motor breaks or anything else happens, you can take it to Nissan and they will replace the seatbelts for free.
